HOMEWORK POLICY
PTA has provided a Student Planner for your child. Daily homework will be written in our classroom planner & projected on the screen each day. Each student is responsible for copying the assignments. Parents are asked to sign the student planner every Thursday evening; it will be checked every Friday. Homework will also be posted daily on our webpage & on our Google Classroom (GC) Weekly Schedule. Students are responsible for homework that was written and projected on the screen. Do not rely solely on our website in case it is down and cannot be updated.
Sixth graders should expect to spend up to 60 minutes on homework daily. This does not include any long term special projects. Students are often given multiple days to complete the work and are given plenty of time to work on their assignments in class; therefore, students must learn to manage their time accordingly. Full credit will only be given for work that is completed and turned in on the day it is due. If a child is absent due to illness or other excused absence, it is due the next day following their return to class. When a child’s assignment is not completed and turned in on time, they are given a day to complete the work & if it still is not returned the following day, a blue Homework Alert will be sent home to notify you of what your child is missing. Please have your child complete their work, and sign and return the Homework Alert to school the next day. Remember that returning the alert is not enough and that the completed work must accompany it.

Any unfinished classwork becomes homework. Full credit will only be given for work that is completed and turned in on the day it is due. If a child is absent due to illness or other excused absence, it is due the next day following their return to class. When a child’s assignment is not completed and turned in on time, a Homework Alert (blue slip) will be sent home to notify you of what your child is missing. Please have your child complete his/her work, and sign and return the Homework Alert to school the following day. If Homework Alert or homework is not returned the next day, the student has to serve recess and/or lunch detention to complete the homework.
