"Thoughtshots" The Last Day of School by Jerry Zhang
I heard as everyone around me whispered. “What are going to do for summer?” ”How much time is left?” I was looking at the clock as if I was a dog looking at a ball that was in a tree. Helpless! I just ignored what Mrs. Dal Porto said, waiting for the minutes to pass. “5 left. No, 4 minutes.” I thought. Each second a minute, each minute an hour. “Why did it need to take so long?”I looked around. Everyone was looking at the clock, as if the clock was a performer, the class the judges. Mrs. Dal Porto was angry now because of our ignorance. Then came the countdown. The most important one in a life. Everyone was screaming. Screaming so loud I covered my ears “5...4...3...2...1...SUMMER VACATION!!!!!” Everyone ran out the door. Shoving others, ignoring out teacher’s words, not limited by anything, I raced to freedom!
